Day 5- Tindersticks

OKAY!!! So I had some internet issues last night and it never posted my blog post about this band..I saved the "preview" of it but the link is now broken and will not let me up load it...so I guess I am going to have to re-do this post again.

I found Tindersticks on Itunes "new" artist list.   Not a fan.  The music to me is okay but something that I would not really listen to.  However the song that I am posting on here I do like and might download for my running playlist.

Tindersticks is a band from England and that is pretty much all I know about them...I have been on their website several times and I have been having issues with it working.  So here is the link to it maybe you will have a better time with it then me.

I sampled all of their music on Itunes and honestly I couldn't wait to stop listening to it.  BUT this is the whole purpose of this challenge to learn and experience all different music.

So here is a video of the song that I liked the best!

Day 4 YelaWolf

Well to my surprise this is NOT a country band--lol.  It's more like Eminem and Charlie Daniels had a baby.  I do remember now that Mike had told me about this guy awhile ago but I wasn't paying much attention--like usual.  I found YelaWolf on the lineup for Bonnaroo.  I am really not much of the newer Hip Hop music person.  I like the music but it's not something that I choose over others.  I am more of an old school Hip Hop music liker.  The "newer" stuff I don't understand--meaning I have no idea what they are saying.  :)

So YelaWolf I take it is from Alabama and from what I have read about him is supported by Eminem, YelaWolf is on his label.  I read his BIO and found it to be very interesting.  I think that someone who can rhyme words together to make a song and make it meaningful has great talent.  From what I have heard from him, he is very talented.  Rap/Hip-Hop shouldn't have a "color" but on it.

Here is the link to YelaWolf's website where you can read more about him and listen to more of his music!

Day 3 The Civil Wars

I am not much of a Country fan.  If I do listen to Country music I like more of the Rock Country or more of a Blue Grass.  When I came across The Civil Wars I instantley fell in love with their music.  "Poison and Wine" is being called their break out song but the song that I heard before they "broke-out" Barton Hollow had me singing! That song gets stuck in your heard and will not get out.  It is a deep, harmonous song and their voices are smooooooth.  I think that The Civil Wars are going to be big in the Country Music industry.

Their Album "Barton Hallow" will stay on repeat in my home.
Here is a link to their website incase you Country Music lovers want to check them out and I suggest to the ones who are not much of Country lovers to check it out anyways!

Day 2-Fun!

Fun is a Indie Rock band that is from NYC.  I LOVE Indie Rock...one of my favorite Indie bands is the Killers.  Mike (the hubby) was the one who found this song on Itunes the other night and I had to have him play it over again.  "We are Young" is an upbeat tune that will be my anthem the day I turn 30!  :)  The song was covered back in December by the cast of Glee....unfortunatly I do not watch that show so I can not comment on if I enjoyed it or not.  This will be one of those songs that I will be playing when I am crying about my age--lol.  I plan on adding it to my running playlist tonight!

Here is the link to their website where you can sample the rest of their album "Some Nights"....I had some issues with the music so if it doesn't work for you check it out on Itunes...

I sampled the rest of the album--it is a very "feel good" album.  I really liked listening to all of the songs... some more than others, which is why I am glad that I can sample it and see what ones I plan on downloading.

Day 1 Gotye!!!

So Ryan has picked a challenge for me that has to deal with music...music is a big part of my life...I grew up on it.  I remember watching my dad when I was a kid..he would have his ear muff looking headphones on that were connected to this big stereo system that had like 28 different knobs on it and he would be playing the air drums...all he would have where the drum sticks and he would be drumming like hell in the air!  He always had music on...in the kitchen cooking, in the bathroom taking a bath, in bed listening to a soothing cd to help him sleep and I followed in his steps. I cried to music, I laughed to music, I sleep to music.  It helped me through some dark times and it celebrates with me through my happy ones.  I enjoy all kinds of music, even classical.  The music I listen to reflex the mood I am in.

This challenge is for me to pick a new and up coming artist every day for the next 30 days, learn about them a little and listen to their music.  I will not discriminate any of the genres that are out there.  I hope to learn about different music that is here in the U.S. as well as around the world.

The first artist I am picking is new to me....I just heard him on the radio last week and already know his song by heart.  His name is Gotye and his song that I am completely obessed with is "Someone That I Used To Know"...amazing song with an amazing sound.   Gotye is an Australian musician who has been around since 2001 but has made it main stream with his new song!  You can learn more about him and his music on his website: http://gotye.com/.   His new album is called Making Mirrors and I can not wait to hear ALL of his songs!

Listen to the song and you will be instantly hooked!
Gotye, Someone That I Used To Know:

The reason why I love this song so much is because it doesn't sound like anything that is out there now.  I find myself playing it on repeat when I am cooking dinner or laying in bed.  We all have someone that was in our life that at one point was important and now they are no longer apart of our life and this song is just about that!  Some of us are glad that person is no longer around and some may wish they were still apart of their life.  Either way I think that you will find that this song will remind you of someone--whether good or bad!

ENJOY!

Uno mas dia

Well tomorrow is the begining!  I am excited about starting these challenges....nervous a little because I really hope that I can commit to these challenges.  Also a little nervous to see what it brings...change is good, but sometimes it can be a little nerve racking.  I hope you all enjoy reading these up coming posts.  Some months probably won't be as entertaing as others, but I am not doing this to entertain people (not to sound harsh).  This whole year I am dedicating to myself, to rediscover my passions, my interests, and inspirations.  The first challenge is not a big one, I asked my friend Ryan America to pick it for me.  He is the one who actually set all of this in motion.  He is the one who showed me that video and really inspired me to do this, so I thought it would be great for him to be the one who chooses my first one.  I was alittle worried at first what he was going to pick, but he is full of surprises and chose a pretty good one....Thank You Ryan for taking it easy on me.

So here it goes--tomorrow is the start.  I hope all of you who follow this enjoys it as much as I am....and I hope that you get inspired also to try a 30 day challenge!

XOXO
